Write your songs. Place your chords. Play together.
A songwriter's notepad that understands chords. Type lyrics like you would anywhere else, and chords snap into place above them — then bring in a co-writer, tune up, and record the demo without leaving the page.
Free accounts include 5 songs. No card needed.
Writing
Chords as you type
Type G and it's offered as a chord — press space, Tab or Enter and it lifts out of the line to float above your lyrics. Arrow through the suggestions to pick Gmaj7 instead.
Nudge chords into place
Put the cursor before a chord and press space to walk it across until it sits over the right syllable.
Sections
Put a name in brackets on its own line — [Chorus] — and it stands out as a section heading.
Chord shapes
Hover any chord for a guitar fingering. Every chord has one, worked out on a real fretboard rather than looked up from a short list.
Transpose
Move the whole song up or down a semitone at a time. Every chord follows.
Autosave
Everything saves as you write. There's no save button because there doesn't need to be one.
Finding the song
Progressions
Set a key and hear progressions played back on a plucked-string sound. Generate new ones, and star the ones worth keeping.
Chords in your key
Pick a key and see the chords that belong in it, ready to drop into the song.
Rhymes and synonyms
Look up rhymes, synonyms, related words and near-sounding words, then click one to drop it into the line.
Tuner
Tune up through your microphone without picking up your phone. Play a string and it tells you how close you are.
Metronome
Set a BPM and count yourself in, with the downbeat accented.
Autoscroll
Let a long song scroll past at a playing pace while your hands stay on the instrument.
Writing with other people
Invite a co-writer
Share a song by email. Collaborators open and edit the same song, and you're warned before overwriting each other's work.
Chat
Talk it through beside the song, so the conversation stays with the work rather than in a messaging app.
Video calls
See who else has the song open and call them. Audio and video go straight between you, never through our servers.
Keeping it
Print and share sheets
A clean chords-over-lyrics sheet, ready to print or bring to a rehearsal.
Demo recording Premium
Record the idea while you still have it, straight from your microphone — captured as music, not as a phone call.
Version history Premium
Checkpoints are kept as you write, so you can go back to an earlier take of a verse. Restoring is itself reversible.
